She Gave Me Space

This girlfriend, is priceless, and as darling as friends come. We made a date for dinner. But she didn't pursue me for a fixed time or venue. It was an odd sort of day at work for me. Dinner would have to be after 8.30pm. So she merrily went for bikram yoga, trusting me to leave a message about meeting details. Of course I did!

Not only that, she sorted out the ordering of food while I dealt with emails on the phone. It was a random restaurant we walked into without reservations. Food will not be mindblowing, but it would be decent. That would do. I probably ignored her for 20 minutes while finishing up emails and a couple of messages. She didn't mind. However, the emphasis is on the space that she gave me. That is what I mostly need from girlfriends. I'm glad they're on the same wavelength.

And she gave me extra pieces of egg and portobello mushrooms, taking all the ham. :) We had mains to share. Pasta. Carbs. I needed carbs. Comfort food. It was a weekday, but she didn't mind a bit of whisky. Off we went for a couple of drams. She sat with me, provided counsel, laughs and conversation. Nairce. The night ended in a mellow, and unhassled fashion. All credit due to this darling girl.

Immensely grateful to the girlfriend for indulging me this evening.

Heee.. More like you accommodated my plans to go for bikram with a late dinner! That's the least I could do, nothing you haven't done for me during mad work days anyway. ;)

eeks. better clarify the 'personal butler' quote was about you staying by your friend's side in hospital. (wait years later, my comment looks so out of line) :P
