Hello 2013!

Oh hello there, new year.

Finally back in Singapore proper, and amidst island hopping, shall ease back into the social whirl. Nothing better than a warm welcome home than a soak in the bath. Ahhhhhh.

Clearly the relaxation wrought wasn't enough to put me in a zen frame of mind to deal with a series of emails of which I had no patience to go through their contents. Need to move with the schedule on-the-go using the cellphone or an iPad. Any spare time will be spent on attending to emails that require sitting down in front of the laptop to sort out research, and pertaining to actual paying work, or the side projects. Definitely won't be bothering with this particular infuriating one. It'll be dealt with much later.

Okay, back to the topic. Returned to a mountain of Christmas presents, of which a good 70% will be given away to donation boxes, or passed on to the friends with full disclosure. Inevitably, relatives never fail to understand that they really don't need to buy a gift from the mall for me or the man. We see them once a year. Two at the most. If we really like any, we'd have hung out more with them, isn't it, instead of declining invitations. Pity. Otherwise I'd have been happily inundated with cards stating donations to their favorite charities. Not even asking them to donate to mine. Come Lunar New Year, if a flood of ang pows rushes in again for incomprehensible reasons, I'll do exactly the same as last year, donate all the monies, and send the receipts to these relatives.

Nope, can't be petulant to say that the year hasn't started well. It's going perfectly fine. Just another day incoming. Lots to do. Exciting stuff. Be with friends who matter. I'll handle 2013 in the usual impish way. And perhaps, say "no" more often, and loudly. Be less nice. :P
