Incoming, Lotsa Work!
Finally had some time alone between all the meetings on a busy day that begun at 8am. Needed to regroup, mull over stuff and plan the next steps. At the cafe, uncharacteristically, I ordered a hot chocolate. A perk-me-up, sorta. Didn't want coffee, tea or whisky. There must be some days where the palate and the body are kept clear of a major influx of caffeine. The girlfriend arrived later and added on a chocolate cake and a yuzu-something macaron.
Since last November, the emails have been trickling in steadily, allowing me to draft a more or less compact work schedule with plenty of space for leisurely activities for the first quarter of the year. Or so I thought. Then came the second week of January, and the work front suddenly overflowed. Literally. Inundated. Had to scramble to re-arrange all the planned leisure trips, both weekend getaways and longer ones. Those could wait. See, told you I can't just buy tickets and plan now for a mid-year vacation or even in April. Doesn't happen this way for me. Not a great plan even when I was in a full-time job at the office. Whenever I want to travel, it'll have to be 'buy the ticket and fly next week, or in two weeks'.
Not returning to full-time work defined as being anchored to a regimented office. I won't say never...but there hasn't been a need to. Full-time part-time/freelance work is just as hectic. Perhaps even more so as one scrambles to get many many projects to hit ideal average monthly income. No CPF unless I arrange for self-contributions. Don't care. Not necessary. It's just a luxury that I've a choice in these matters, and for that, I'm ever grateful, every.single.day. However, I am working. I am proactively earning my own income because I can. I happen to enjoy all the little projects, be them unpaid volunteer stuff, or paid stints. Onward, impie, work hard.
