In Good Company

Sat around a table, and gave thanks for the food offered by the hosts. For all their efforts flitting around the kitchen all day to cook dinner, in spite of being horribly ill for a couple of days, it was a cheerful spread on the table.

As the hosts get on in years, it takes so much to put together a simple meal, even if less dishes are prepared. We eat with them, but once a year. We can afford to put away all food prejudices, eat in moderation, remember the human-to-human interaction, and simply be grateful for the genial warmth brought forth by the festive season.
