PeraMakan at Owen Road

Had a good meet with Ame and S. Between major milestones of selling old houses, a hunt for a new home, renovations and moving to a new home, plus work, we can't do a girls' trip this year. And no, I'm not about to brave KL or JB even; definitely no Bintan or Bali.

But our work projects criss-cross, so we could do a number of 10am meets, 8am walks, afternoon reflections, for chats and definitely for an early dinner. Ame knew I haven't been to PeraMakan for eons, so she suggested for us to have dinner there. She had stopped by a few times and thought it would be to our tastebuds. It was my first visit to PeraMakan at this location. (There isn't outdoor seating.)

Since PeraMakan left Keppel Club in 2013 or so, I've never stopped by its other venues because I didn't think the kitchen was up to par. Towards the end of its lease at Keppel Club, the food really sucked. Years have passed, so tonight's dinner was rather looked forward to.

We had drinks at Ame's before dinner, which included a delicious slab of cheddar and crackers, along with oranges. I laughed so loud. Ame is always the one peeling and slicing up fruits for us, no matter where we are. At dinner, we didn't dare to over-order. We went with ngoh hiang, sambal terung, braised pork ribs, ikan garam assam (using barramundi), and one bowl of fried mee siam. Skipped dessert. That was absolutely satisfying.

I packed up the rest of the pork ribs to-go, added a tub of rice. The husband had loong meetings and would need some dinner. The food was good enough for me to order a to-go portion of ayam buah keluak with three extra nuts.
