It's just incredible that I am so fond of the Bowmore port matured 16 y.o. I love the way the taste changes with tap water vs Fiji natural artesian water; club soda vs San Pellegrino.
Despite being port-matured, it is strangely not an overpowering whisky. The peat in there contains just the right amount of smokiness for me. It is so smooth. A little floral, if you will.
The whisky forum suggested an aftertaste of lavender. I'm not sure I tasted that. I thought it similar to tea. It tasted more like a dark smoky lapsang souchong with a hint of sweetness.
It is definitely not a whisky for a beginner drinker. But it is meant to be savored in sobriety for the lovers of single malts. I'm supremely possessive over every drop of this bottle. I'm inclined to only share it with people whom I call friends.
