Lunch At Colbar

It's been a long time since we turned up at Colbar. Since we were all in the area for work meetings, we decided to catch up this nearby eatery where it wouldn't be packed at 1pm. Ahhh Colbar, that old-school feel with its old-school menu. Time always seems to stand still at this non air-conditioned quaint eatery.

To be honest, food is kinda blah, but if we're here, we just want to fill the stomach. The entire table unimaginatively ordered chicken cutlet with potato wedges and beans (from a can). Duhhhh. It came in a big piece of fried breast meat, and the friends declared it pretty decent. I opted for some fried beehoon in gravy. There were sharing dishes of chicken curry, and fish and vegetables curry. Then there were ox liver sandwiches. Those had such an old school taste that the friends reminisced how they used to have it as an after-school snack made by the grandparents.

There were some rather good choices of bottled beer. Obviously nobody would pass that up, at lunch. Ha! All the telling flushed faces that would show up at the respective offices at 3pm. Tsk. I stuck to a safe glass of freshly squeezed lime juice.

Yes! Ox liver! I also couldn't believe it. Till the sandwich appeared. It's modest, but pretty all right for a snack. Lightly toasted, crusts sliced off. Exactly how our grandparents made them for us.
