Jazz Greats

Mosaic Festival 2006 has got a great line-up.

Performing tonight was Pat Metheny with Christian McBride and Antonio Sanchez. First time ever in Singapore. It was a sell-out.

Pat Metheny is the best jazz guitarist in the world. Christian McBride is the most sought-after bassist on jazz records. Antonio Sanchez is the definitive drummer of our time.

People even snapped up seats at Circle 3. Wow. You get the acoustics at Circle 3, but not the view of the stage. With all the leaning forward, you'll probably also have an aching back at the end of the show.

It was a well-paced 2 hours of groovy jazz that's part fusion, part rock and part traditional. Pat Metheny was simply superb. Mesmerizing. Christian McBride was sizzling and his touch on the bass was amazing. Antonio Sanchez's drumming was so frighteningly complex that one couldn't even begin to tell the beats and the melody apart.

Good golly. It was an awesome show.
1 encore.
2 standing ovations.

Exhilarating.
