The suaku us have never seen lily buds cooked like this before. The uncle at the seafood restaurant persuaded us to try these from Cameron Highlands.
After we finished the whole plate, the uncle strolled by and said that when eaten in small amounts like these, the lily buds work great as de-toxifying agents. He said "Take like that just nice. Anymore will be like a laxative effect. First, you would poo and poo. But the pain not like diarrhea pain like that. Just very very smooth poo."
We stared at him in complete horror. Why didn't he tell us this FACT earlier?!
We wanted roughage. But hell, we didn't plan to poo for the whole night. A mild laxative vegetable would not have gone down well with the copious amounts of beer, garlic and chilli padi we ingested. Damn. Within half an hour, we felt distinctly uncomfortable. We scrambled to get back to a proper toilet.
Poo type:
- 1st run - proper stools.
- 2nd run - slightly runny stools.
- 3rd run - watery stools.

*ewks* This post is the most (interesting) descriptive read I've had today. I don't think I've seen blogs describing poo before. haha. At least you're proper detox-ed now. :)
I'll bet that you got a lot of reading done too ...
ummm...at least i know exactly what will happen if i ever eat this veg.
wah, that is exactly what i need!

geesmo: not sure if the chinese shops in canada stocks it. i only know it's huge in taiwan...
yellow: hehah. kinda gross. but essential knowledge!!!
kuro: i'm not sure. but i bet you it is since this is supposed to be the season for it. the dried version is used for nonya chap chye. so the fresh version could probably be bought at the wet markets... but you had kelp along with green tea!! good antioxidants too!
