There's really nothing to rival the taste of buah keluak.
Never mind the meats. We prefer those with the thick full on black contents. We dug out the black paste in nuts to savor its bitterness. The intensity of the black paste filled our tastebuds.
It's really too much trouble to cook the nuts. While we would receive homecooked pots of nuts as gifts during festive seasons, we don't get that on the normal days. So we could only have them at the restaurants. Not as good, but they will have to do.

Where do you buy the nuts from? Just the nuts?

Really? Yum! Thanks Dre - I love it but minus the chicken!
my fav!!! i eat the nuts and dump the chicken!
It's very tedious to prepare the nuts for this dish but yah, very yummy!!! Cant find this in any of the Nyonya restaurants in Penang but there are still a few restaurants serving this in Malacca.
Where's good....and cheap?
