The Painful Steps

Of course I insisted on tagging along to watch the doctor change the dressing on his op incisions.

The grouchy doctor nearly scared me into not taking these shots. But I gulped and whipped out my camera anyway. When the doctor tore off the last surgical plasters, I was expecting some gory, bloodied nasty incisions. However, the wounds seemed to be healing well. I guess they were still raw beneath the skin. But they didn't look too bad. The doctor rotated the brace to allow an extra 30º of movement for the knee.

Thank you for all the wishes. So long the man leaves the jumping to the Easter bunnies, attends physiotherapy sessions, and does his stretches at home as instructed, he should be walking okay by the end of his three-week medical leave.

Even when his leg heal, still ask him not to overuse that leg for awhile. Internal healings do take time. Like in my mum's case, both her legs were operated on and even years later, she still tries not to exert them too much.

But of course your man is young so it would be easier.

His leg still looks swollen. Hopefully the swelling will subside and he can start cooking again or is he still cooking?

dr: you're observant! it is! leg's fine in the morning's and swell in the evenings. ugh. he's cooking somewhat already! just 1 dish lah. nothing major. he can stand and hobble.

jazzgal: doc was real grouchy. serious grump. but brilliant surgeon. it's a pleasure watching him with the forceps and all.

queenie: the works. aloe vera, ice packs, moisturizers.

As a guy, I’ll already be thinking of ways to entertain myself while on MC all day long at home….books, console games, comics, TV, chatting with the neighbours or their maids, watching Oprah…ok, I did say ‘as a guy’…playing PSP or the DS.

Woohoo! The silver lining is this: No IPPT for a year! PES C all the way!

The skin looks wrinkly. Is that the front or back of the knee?
