Vegetarian Delight

(click photo for a larger image)

The man gets some of his vegetarian inspirations from Tinned Tomatoes.

Tonight, he dabbled in a sort-of Greek inspired vegetarian dinner of dips and salad. We hollered out an invite to the omnivores and were glad to have a full seating for dinner.

Of course I wasn't of much help in the kitchen beyond gingerly wielding the knife and dicing the needed ingredients.

The super hardworking dessert angel brought along dessert and beer bread. We loved that beer bread! It was great with the tzatziki, baba ghanoush and fava beans in tomato and herb sauce. It was so good that we kinda forgot all about the pita bread lying at the side.

Coupled with a 2004 Gravitas Sauvignon Blanc and a 2004 Mad Fish Cabernet Sauvignon, the carnivores were happy campers.

We barely noticed any difference in the choice of food this evening.

Along with a vegetable pilaf as the main source of carbohydrates, we were all stuffed by the time dessert came around.

But who could resist the dessert angel's apple, raisin and walnut cake? It was crunchy, healthy and sweet. Mmmmm. Loved the freshly baked goods!

At the end of the night, we waved the friends off at the door, happy that we fed them well.

The man drew me close and kissed me deep. I love our moments of silence. Again, we give thanks for such a wonderful bunch of friends who are our pillar of support and drawing us into the circle of affection.

if link doesn't work, it's on google. add more or less onions/cucumbers depending on the taste of your dinner pals.

what a treat! Tell the man to make lentil (mercimik) soup, which will go so well with everything you have now.

I vegetarian dishes, but I can't have a vegetarian meal. When I make vegetarian soups I'll have them with ham and bread.

I think it's in my head. I can't get full on vegetarian food. I so need my meat!

i'll admit am not very familiar with the food but how long did it u two to prepare it?

imp said...

sinlady: ooh. will google!

kikare: hehehe. i used to feel that way too. but after some innovation...it's pretty okay to have a full vegetarian meal. i just tell myself that it's healthier and i'll lose weight. hah.

cavalock: say....a whole day, including going to the supermarket. we take it as the sunday activity.
