I understand the mad rush, the planning and details that went into hosting us.
Seating, route, venue, security, meet-&-greet party, refreshments, water, what-sort-of-coffee-and-tea, briefing slides, tone, branding, gifts, the sorts.
Because I have been on the organizing side.
It is really nice to be in the visiting party sometimes. I needn't worry about anything. I just need to appear, adhere to protocol, make appropriate interested remarks, ask clever questions and smile.
As I accompany the delegation around, I appreciate the effort made by our hosts to accommodate our visit.
I hope that when it's our turn to host, we will be able to reciprocate with equal sincerity and graciousness.

Ha ha ha.... Its great to be on the other side once in a while isn't it? Now and then, its nice to be on the receiving end of things in the PR world...
Nice hoh. But do you find yrself subconsciously scrutinising what goes wrong or what could have been done better? :P
Sometimes I do! :P
heee. best to be in a visiting delegation. brain chill. ...see what tips you can 'steal' and what 'no-no' you must never do!
coolinsider: agreed!!!
lms: yes i do!!! i find myself quietly smiling if things are done beautifully! if there's something out of the place, i ask myself if it's a cultural thing. if it is, then no issues, then i see what i can adopt! and keep that in mind when they come over to us!
rachael: yes yes! steal!
Ha I know what you mean. Having been on the organising side, it feels doubly nice to be on the receiving end! And I'll be even more appreciative, knowing all the effort that went behind, most of which would be unnoticed to many.
b.muse: exactly!
