We attended a very lovely gig by Caroline at the Esplanade Recital Studio. Her performance was delicate, fragile and so very sweet. It was something different to our usual tones. Indie, yes. Rock, not really.
Caroline does a different, but very pleasant genre of electro sounds. It was an almost ethereal performance. After that, we strolled to the Concourse. There, we lingered. The current visual arts installation captured our imagination.
Created by Joshua Yang and students from the NUS High School of Math and Science, the installation was themed Superstring - a series of single continuous line drawings.
It is a site-specific installation consisting of drawings with markers and paint on rolls of canvas stretched across wooden frames and rollers.
We were intrigued by the concept behind the mode of drawing in a single continuous line that tied in with the Superstring Theory which postulates that all matter in the universe is made up and connected by tiny symmetrical vibrations called 'strings'.
It was fairly fascinating as we skirted the canvas and tried to trace all the lines around the installation. Some of us were all pretty inspired to grab a tattoo created from that one continuous line. Ah. Now, to find an artist to do that.

The title caught my attention immediately. Babe, Joshua's our next artist-in-residence. He's just started work in our studio now. If you would like, will put you on the invite list for his art exhibition, which we are planning to have sometime in November. :)
a tattoo using this one line thingy will be quite cool. thing is, it's gotta be on the whole back. if not, wasted lah. cannot see properly. think hours of mindless entertainment!
