We called each other, wanting to catch up in person. It was with some amusement that the friends and I realized that we would be in the other's country for this particular weekend.
The friends were in Singapore to catch the shows at da:ns festival. I was in their country for a quick getaway. There was much mirth as we wished the other "Have fun in my country!". We also promised to text each other messages that included the words "your country".
"Good morning from Regent Hotel! We went to Zouk last nite! Loved the fact that S$25 admission included 2 Macallans! Got back at 4am! We love your country!"
I was like, what?!!! I certainly didn't know that Macallans could be redeemed with that entry ticket. I had to retaliate.
"Good morning from Phuket! We love the food! We have a little car to drive around in! The next time we're together in your country, I'll show you where to go!"
As always, the repartee narrowed the distance between us.
