Checking Out The City

After all, it's my first time in Macau proper as an adult. If I had been here as a kid, I don't remember. Might as well faithfully check out the sights. First, I'll have to get my bearings.

They tell me to go eat the pork chop buns and portuguese egg tarts. We'll see. I'm not exactly a fan of pork or egg tarts. Neither am I obligated to buy them home as gifts.

As skeptical I am about fusion food, I want to try Macanese cuisine. Since I'm going to be eating a number of dinners here, they tell me to go to Restaurante Litoral. I suppose I will.

Casinos are not my focus of interest in this city. I'm going to look for other things less glitzy. Am sure I'll find something in this rather charming heritage city. Or rather, I'd better look for the gems before the bright new buildings replace the old.

One of the most popular places for Macanese food is Fernando which is on Hac Sa (Black Sand) Beach in the Coloane district in the southern part of Macau. Most cabbies will know it.

It does not accept reservations. Opens for lunch at 11am (people start queueing at 10:15 !) and closes late. The roast pig is to die for !
