There was a scheduled work trip to the US.
All members on that trip are eligible to fly on business class.
Then The Boss chirpped to her personal assistant. "I don't need to. I'm quite comfortable in Economy. Book me on Economy please."
When news of the executive decision spread, the rest of the members were quietly horrified.
So it came to pass- on that particular business trip, everyone flew on Economy for the 20hr flight.
To and fro.

But you see. The Boss is tiny and slim.

20 hours flight on economy... that is very bad. what is wrong with your boss??
omigawwd! she'd be so comfortable in economy then. but what about the others?! surely there were the tall and ummm...fleshy ones?!
Erh....as compared to whole mgmt team coaching up to KL instead of flying for retreat, this doesnt seem thaaaat bad. :P
We were just talking about flight entitlement for staff and I suggested that for all trips beyond a certain duration (say 10 hours), staff are given business class regardless of rank.
I had an unfortunate experience of flying to the US on cattle class with two other colleagues. We were supposed to get a day off before and after the trip but we had nothing. We landed at night and were expected to start work the following morning. Needless to say, all three of us suffered from major jet lag and we were still expected to report to work on Monday (we returned on Saturday).
Upon my audacious suggestion, the HR manager's face dropped and she started groaning. Dammit man, HR is dealing with HUMANS. If you can't even put your staff's well-being into consideration what the fark are you doing in HR????
20hrs.. economy..??? work trip..?? oh boy..!!! that's too cruel..!!
i think it may have been the soon-to-phase-out executive economy class which has more leg room and better service.
in fact, i felt the flight was surprisingly pleasant for the 19 hours.
in reality, companies are cutting cost, and this is one of the easy ones they can get to.
my take is : always request for SQ if possible, cos the planes are newer and bigger and the flight crew are not bitchy.
at least the flying hours are the same, control factors, ya? cost savings izzit?
That is abuse!! How can like that?
should put her in between 2 fleshy colleagues...hehee....
but seriously, not a very caring boss
it must be super tiring then! too bad!
zewt: NOT MY BOSS! heeeeee. they call it 'cost savings'.
jazzgal: exactly the point.
lms: o.my.gawwd. i'll NEVER coach up to KL ever. UGH.
eveline: your HR is either dumb or tyrannical. for study purposes, they should all fly on cattle class to US and work their asses off immediately upon landing.
mamabok: haizz.
kuroshironeko: definitely not. it was on the cattle class economy tiny seat. the good thing is, they always fly by SQ. phew.
cheryl + DK: RIGHT. cost savings. magic word.
corsage: that i dunno! i must ask about the seat configurations and who sat where! wahahahhaha. as far as i know, she inspires dread in me, not a very people person in that way.
elaine: not just that. completely hazardous to health. imagine squeezing into the tiny space at 1.85m tall.
I can so imagine what you went through..... For me, well I just have to travel economy on work trips because I am not senior enough (that's what they say) even though I manage a team of 15 at work. Something to do with my age etc etc...
If I was the exec travelling with her, I would be like: "DAMN! DAMN! DAMN!!"
hahahaha oh my goodness
i think if i work for a nut case like this, i better start seeking "more challenging opportunities" elsewhere in other department lolz
coolinsider: what nonsense?! at your level, if the flight is more than 7hrs, you're definitely eligible to fly business. i'm quite quite sure.
jomel: i think u just echoed the feelings of about more than 1! :)
findingmrlazy: maybe she's got no EQ. ugh.
