The man hasn't had the leisure to cook a full dinner for some weeks now. He has been nursing this desire to re-create this delicious miso cod we had. So this morning he trudged to the supermarket and gathered the ingredients.
It was a totally on-the-spur of the moment decision to cook. And it was so cool that the friends could make it for dinner too. Then, we made up this completely random menu.
Of course the highlight was the fish. He paired the miso cod with risotto (using a seaweed infused stock) and drizzled yuzu truffle butter sauce for the finish. He made me vegetarian pasta. He threw in the mussels just because he thought it very fresh for the supermarket to display it live on a bed of ice. For a lark, he also grilled beef patties for the boys to go with the pasta.
The food went down really fast. I guess it's been this really long week for everyone. Some pulled weekend shifts too. We need to feel that warmth and emotional support from one another. So it feels good to sit down at home to have dinner together, accompanied by a bottle of Glenlivet 18 y.o.
