Mono in Singapore 2018

I took the formidable earplugs along to the Mono gig at Zouk. Magic the Unicorn was there to watch over I Am David Sparkle's one-hour opening set. Mono is a post-rock band. Anyone would tell you that it'd be as loud as Mogwai. Maybe louder.

The lilting manga sounds that filled the room calmed me. It spoke of such sweet joy and sorrow. Then, as the pounding sounds of vehemence washed over the room, I felt the anger of the day drain out of me. I closed my eyes and let the sound waves carry me into Mono's five movements of layered melodies.

It was a mindblowing set. For that little while, I kicked myself for not going to Explosions In The Sky gig in Malaysia earlier this year.
