My Heart Is Not An Empty Room

I flipped a random magazine, got to the horoscope page and smirked.

Mine read,

"You know your ideas must be listened to and it might be that the time for compromise has passed. Much depends on whether you are prepared to risk a bitter confrontation. If you're not, then you will earn praise, but you do have to take extra precautions."

There is a work event on an evening of which I had already fixed personal plans.

That work event doesn't need me. I'm involved in the pre-stuff, planning thingies. And that shall be the extent of my commitment. I do not want to be there on the actual evening so that I can raise my profile and up my visibility. Frankly, it is not necessary for me to be present.

I no longer place earning brownie points at work high on my life's priority list. You see, I'm dispensable.

I've weighed my choices. The scales are clear.

To me, music is my religion. It is sacred beyond words.

They have possessed my heart.

Nothing, absofuckinglutely nothing will make me miss this date.

In the instant I made this choice, I felt liberated. I am still basking in the afterglow.
