So much for bravado. Made my decision. I'm not resigning from the job.
There was a boo-boo today. And frankly, it was my oversight. I said so and made that point strongly. The bosses of course, gently said this mistake shouldn't have been made. But there was no finger-pointing. It was all about problem-solving in a calm way.
Yet, my officer took it really hard. She blamed herself for it. She cried. When I went to talk to her to stress that it was nothing to do with her, I ended up tearing and red-faced. I was so emotional. I was really touched. This is a team that takes pride and ownership in what we do.
Then, there was earl-grey ice-cream and chocolate gateaux. With a team like this, I really have no reason to quit on them. My faith has been renewed. It's us vs them. Not them vs me. Ideals vs reality. We all have our bugbears. I have too. And I should really learn to get around it.
I'll give it one more shot. I just don't know why the heart feels so heavy still.
