The Activities

We spent our days in Phang Nga and the outlying islands, returning to Phuket only when night fell. The man wanted to experience all those stuff in the brochures. There were the ATV trails, flying fox lines (I can never understand that. Whatever for???!), elephant rides...etc.

Thank goodness the little elephant didn't bruise my ass as she lumbered through the trail pooping and peeing. The activities were nowhere near adrenaline pumping. But at rafting, if you paddled hard enough through the easy rapids, you could still get a good arm workout. Camping overnight in a tropical jungle was a bad bad idea. You would just become mosquito food!!! I couldn't believe that the man didn't get enough of that in the army.

While I was merrily squatting on the rocks at the waterfall in the middle of the jungle, my cellphone shrieked. For a good minute, my mind didn't register the ringing. I was just not paying attention to it. And it was amazing that there was cellphone reception out here in the wild. I had to return the call. It was a work call about my November travel plans. Then there were a couple of texts that came in from the colleagues. All good.

It was surreal man. There I was, listening to the gentle thunder of the falls, drying off after a very cold soak in its shallow pool, amusing myself with the fish darting around. And technology prevailed. Heh.

I wanna ride on an elephant! Properly through the jungles. But sighs, I already puff up when bitten by city mosquitoes, I'll probably explode with jungle ones.
