The girlfriend took me all the way The Whole Earth Vegetarian Restaurant in Geylang. She liked the Peranakan menu. She texted, "They serve buah keluak." I was sold.
Their bibik's nutty buah keluak had only 3 nuts in one serving. I sputtered when told that the extra nuts were S$3 a piece. But when I dug into those nuts, I realized why it was pricey. They gave you the pure stuff. We fell in love with the simple sambal brinjal. The olive rice was really tasty. But a tad oily. I suppose they didn't have time to squeeze out all the oil from the olives before they cooked them.
Lightbulbs went off in my head when I realized that this eatery was halal certified. That opened up alot of dining options with the different groups of friends. The rainy evening was great for a spicy meal with the girlfriend. It felt so good catching up with her and hearing the very hilarious stories happening in her life.
Better still, I stepped out to the roadside and hopped into a cab within 3 minutes. It's been a long time since I hailed a cab just like that, instead of getting them through a phone booking.

Amazing cab luck we had all evening, especially considering the rainy weather!
Aiyo, you make me wanna go there immediately to try leh. All along I haven't been able to sample the famous peranakan buah keluak because it is normally cooked with chicken, which I don't eat.
NOW *with flourish*, finally now I get to dig at my first buah keluak nut in their vegetarian version of the dish! I can't wait.
Oh oh oh! They have a catering menu too, I'm so gonna order for my gatherings with friends. Impie dear, you really made my day! :)
