"We have, in fact, two kinds of morality side by side: one which we preach but do not practice, and another which we practice but seldom preach."
~ Bertrand Russell, Sceptical Essays (1928), "Eastern and Western Ideals of Happiness"
In celebrating life, we are acutely aware of how fragile everything really is.
We too, pray.
We pray for friends whom we don't want to lose right now.
We pray for friends who need to be stronger than the ones they're watching over.
We pray for some amount of stability within the uncertainty of the world.
We pray that we will be able to sustain the act of giving in the way we have always known it to be.
We pray that we don't crumble in these times of fear.
We give thanks to the circle of warmth.

I just received some bad news from my bestie, and your post couldn't have come more timely...
Philosophical and certainly timely. My wife's sis-in-law is going for an operation soon to remove some lumps in her breast. It is something very scary and we are all praying hard that it will be benign. Your post certainly gave me much food for thought.
kikare: hoping for good news next week then.
coolinsider: i certainly wish her well and everyone to have a peace of mind soon.
