A Morning Stroll

Despite the numerous warnings about 'keeping safe' in Colombo, I don't think it is too dangerous to go out alone. No more so than any other city. There is no way I'm going to leave the city without a stroll along the beachfront.

The long stretch of road leading to the government offices has been cordoned off. No entry to cars without special permits. Likewise, tourists are not encouraged to linger along the stretch of road. I did just that.

Minutes before dawn, I slipped away from the now-stirring hotel to the solitude of the beach. There weren't many people on the beach. I was just revelling in the peaceful sounds of the morning. Flung off the slippers. I ran along and did three cartwheels and a back flip on the beach. Wieeeeeeeeeeeeee! The police officers eyed me suspiciously. Those on horseback rode nearer. But they didn't approach to stop me. Happy now, I re-traced my steps back to the hotel, unmolested and not arrested. (",)

Ok for me, the "wah" factor is not about you waking up early and going out on your own. It's about the cartwheels and the backflip - WAH!!!!!

elaine: heh.

karmac: don't wah. hehehe. that's the result of 12yrs of gymnastics + ballet, 4yrs of figure-skating and almost 10yrs of pilates. :) unfortunately, wearing the wrong bra can still cause me to be thrown off balance upon landing of any flips. ;p
