So What Do You Do On Saturday Mornings?

A colleague asked why I didn't go to the office's recent 'Family & Friends Day' at Sentosa. The reply on the tip of my tongue was "Because I don't like mixing work with family or friends. Especially not on a precious Saturday."

I realized that wouldn't come out as very friendly. So I settled for a lame "Because it's at 9am on a Saturday. I'm not awake." So that more or less sealed my image in the eyes of this colleague. Not that I particularly cared. I prefer not to have personal conversations at work. Unless it's with the very few colleagues who are actually friends. So that would have be that. But no, the colleague wouldn't let up. She had to pry.

"Why? What do you do on Saturday mornings?"

I gritted my teeth but retained the grin. I kept the tone flippant. "Oh! I get drunk on Friday nights, puke all over the car and wake up at noon on Saturdays in some stranger's flat."

That look of disapproval and horror on her face was priceless.

I had to turn away then and practically sprinted to the nearest toilet. I didn't make it. I rounded the corner and doubled up in hysterical laughter.

Haha, I would have reacted in a VERY similar way! Btw, my colleagues can't stand my tongue, too caustic for them. Heh heh.
