I walked by the shops and was really taken with the old school and super basic hair salons for men and women. I don't see these at all in Singapore. We get the upmarket, too clean and too savvy ones at home till they're just utilitarian and not charming at all.The barber shop included shaving services too. Me is the dumbdumb tourist- I stared and stared for the whole 15 minutes while a customer sat in the chair and had white foam splashed all over his jaw to the sound of the shaving knife. I was completely fascinated. I shuddered a little at how easy it is to have one's throat cut by the barber.
I really wouldn't mind getting my hair washed at this hair salon. I don't quite like getting the hair pulled and blown. But getting the head and scalp rubbed would be such a luxury!
Unfortunately, there were other activities on the agenda which didn't include a stop at the hair salon. Boo.

awww...to bad. would be fun to have an old fashioned shampoo and blow/dry. next time maybe.
singapore still have the indian/malay barbers where they will shave beard/nostril's hair, opps, so crude. hehehe.
