So it was 8°C last night. Not cold only because I'm all wrapped up in wool and cashmere. I admit it's quite a nice evening. Haha. Wearing gloves make it all warm-ish. Hyde Park's Winter Wonderland has got a big brightly lit Ferris wheel and plenty of mega lollipops! Wieeeeee. The whole vibe reminds me of high school all over again! I love the huge size of that skating rink.
On our way home to the sounds of Muse and Kings of Leon, we drove past The Kensington Hotel, I saw this bunch of men in black strolling out of the entrance. They looked like musicians. "Those men look familiar." I nudged the man. "It's J Mascis! J Mascis!" The man was this close to squealing- he's a huge huge fan. J Mascis is here in London gigging with The Fog for a few days. But no, we're not going to stalk the man.
Our young driver has realized that our music preferences about 10 minutes after we first met- he sets the dial on AbsoluteRadio for us! While we're here, we've been getting exciting news from home about concerts. Dinosaur Jr is playing in Singapore for Esplanade's Mosaic Festival on 16 March 2010. Dates might change, but they're coming for sure! 2010, as it already is, will definitely go down as a superb year for gigs in Singapore. Paramore will be playing in early March. I heard a date with Florence and The Machine is almost a certainty.
We've been listening to IndiepopRadio. Of course we're going to check out a couple of gigs here too! Plenty lined up. Probably the more obscure bands before they hit big time. Heh. Between Westend and indie plays, the movies and gigs, I'm not even sure how we'd find time to go to the chic whisky bars!
The man has a tiny Line 6 PocketPod and a travel guitar. At slightly before 6am right now, he's merrily playing U2's Where The Streets Have No Name. Give him another 3 days and I bet you he'll seriously consider buying (or renting) a giant Fender Twin Reverb. Then we'll get kicked out of the flat for noise pollution.
