A Little Touch of Christmas

Londontown definitely has a Christmassy feel to it. Christmas colors, songs, busking; lights in the city malls, shops and residential flats; Christmas turkey, pheasants, ham and food, restaurants offering and advertising their menus, etc. People seem more cheerful and walk a tad slower.

The whole Christmas mood is rather infectious. I'm not quite into it really. The first time I heard about Santa Claus, I knew he wasn't for real. So I just don't like Santa Claus lurking about in the malls. They scare me the same way clowns do. Each time I see one go ho ho ho, I've to stiffle this incredible urge to kick him in the shins. It's like when I was a kid, I had an insane need to punch people dressed up as cartoon characters in their furry suits. I still get that feeling sometimes. :p

What we haven't done (yet), is to buy a real Christmas tree to place it at home or here in London. I'm too lazy to bother with maintaining the tree, decorations and putting presents underneath. Never really been into that even as a child. I don't want Christmas to be all about presents. I'm not into the Christmas feasting or the eggnog either. I'm Grinch-y.

But I do like some reminders of of Christmas. It just doesn't make me go waaaah in the commercial way. Christmas is important to me in another manner. At the market, we caved in and bought pots of beautiful poinsettia and fresh mistletoe for the flat. Fresh flowers and plants always make a place seem cosy and warm.

We have a bunch of Christmas tree farms near us - so there's always people driving around with trees on top of their cars! Lovely as they may be, I don't want pine needles on my floor!
