At Our Lady Of Pilar Basilica

You know, in spite of sneering at dumb collective group-think and preferring individual space, on this trip, with a measure of surprise, I realized just how much I miss working in a team, with a good team that hums along efficiently, thinks on the same frequency and looks out for each other. I really miss having that.

We went to see the historic Del Pilar Cloisters at Our Lady of Pilar Basilica. The church is older than Recoleta Cemetery. The windows that overlook the cemetery now, overlooked an orchard in the olden days. The bricks used for the floor in the cloisters date from 1732, and still hold firm. WAHHH. There's a giant hymm book of Gregorian chants in a tiny corner with a dome-shaped ceiling that made our voices sound quite good when we hummed to the notes. Heeee.

There weren't many people in the church. We sat in the pews for a while. I gratefully sank to my knees. It was peaceful. I needed that. It's been a rough couple of weeks and by now, I'm not exactly all sunshine and cheer. I want to get this over with and go home. I was glad for a few hours of downtime at the church. It kept me sane, literally, and gave me a little strength to last a little longer.
