Volta
It was absolutely mind-boggling when concierge called to inform me that the delivery from Volta had arrived and they were asking if I would like to pay by credit card. I was like, I didn't order ice-cream! I thought I would just pay it if it was a pint or so. When I found out it was 5kg worth of chilled sugar and milk, I rejected the order.
The phone network was down on both phones. So I couldn't call out to find out which one of my funny friends did that. But it was too difficult to narrow it down to 1 girlfriend. She's the biggest proponent of Volta ice-cream. She was trying to order ice-cream online for me, but her comprehension Spanish wasn't 100% and on a crappy website which promised online payment, but it wasn't really so and rejected her order a couple of times till she gave up, the order still somehow got through. All her clicks probably totalled 5kg. It was HILARIOUS.
Volta's website states in English 'Buy online'. But it doesn't allow payment. It's more like 'order online' and the shop will call to confirm order and then deliver and collect payment on the spot. The rest of the website is in Spanish. It's not very friendly to non-Spanish-speaking customers.
So for all her efforts, I went to Volta today and got a scoop of chocolate nero. Not bad at all. The sugar wasn't too heavy. Smooth and not too difficult to eat. For ARS$18, I had 2 generous scoops in an edible basket. Under the blazing sun, it made good company for the short stroll over to the Recoleta Cemetery.
