Cheerful Colors & Black Eyed Peas

Headed out of the city and into a convenient venue for lunch at Blu Kouzina. It was a lovely sunny day. No huge crowds gathered at the restaurant to make it unpleasantly rowdy. We escaped from the heat and sat in the air-conditioning on the second floor.

I've grown very fond of this cheerful little eatery that's full of colors and sunshine. It's got awesome dips, tasty pita bread and pretty good seafood on the grill. The man makes a mean fava dip. But he concedes that Blue Kouzina's simply great. He's conscientiously experimenting to make it as savory and flavorful as the eatery's. Not too difficult as long as he balances out the seasoning.

There's a lemony-soda juice that they'll do for us whenever we ask the waiters about it very nicely. It's not on the menu and they'll usually tell you they've no freshly squeezed juices. So if you order, please expect to pay S$8 to S$9 for a glass and don't yell at them about it. Today was probably the first time I realized this girlfriend likes lemon and lemon juice and lemon-whatever so much. Heh.

In addition to the dips, we had the bean salad, and lo and behold, black-eyed peas in there. Didn't have cornbread, but it's still the first week of 2012! Since we were talking about the Civil War and all, and according to the Southern tradition, we're still in time to eat them for luck for the new year!
