敦奶
At the dessert cafes (or commonly referred to as 'huts'), there's usually nothing on the menu that interests me. All sugar. Eeeeeks. But I've to get a drink or something, or simply pay HKD10 for the mere privilege of taking up one seat in the store. Thankfully, many offer freshly squeezed juices.
The man has developed a liking for steamed milk pudding/custard/curd. (敦奶) He hasn't tried it till this trip. He mentioned that a friend told him about it. So I had to find him one. He totally fell in love with it. He has to have it every other day now. He likes it done the original way, with a touch of sugar. Cold. It's too sweet for me though. I don't share a bowl with him; he eats it all by himself. Heh. He's happiest if we have desserts with the friends who love them, because he'll be able to steal bites off their bowls.
The man asks where to find steamed milk custard at home. I'm certainly not attempting to make them. Probably at the Hong Kong dessert cafes or something, I suppose. And those dessert places on the third floor of People's Park Centre.

Hey Imp, Ah Chew Dessert on Liang Seah Street offers a decent version. Nothing can rival the original, of course! The silky beancurd across the road (Dessert First) is pretty awesome too, soft and silky.
Hi Imp, try http://www.meiheongyuendessert.com.sg/ - its at Temple St.
Happy belated Birthday to the Man :)!
Oh thank you, hobomobo and ozzie! i'll certainly file the info and take the man to taste this at these venues.
I think you can find it at the Honeymoon Dessert 满记甜品 shops located island-wide. Hope that helps satisfy the craving.
Try the steamed milk pudding with ginger juice from Ji De Chi across the road from Ah Chew, near Dessert First. It's simply delicious. I love it! It's made with just milk, ginger juice & a little sugar, no gelatin/jelly powder added. How awesome is this chemistry!
WOAH! Thank you LadyJ and ice!
All these will fill up many weekends checking out the different styles of steamed milk custard on this island!
The man can try this ginger milk pudding 姜汁撞奶 recipe out. It's pretty straightforward to make, easy peasy. You can help by grating the ginger hehe. Enjoy!
