Having The Girlfriend Over

Such a pleasant surprise to have the girlfriend come join the man and I at home for the evening. Unplanned. She happened to be free, and would like to hang out. We happened to have nothing specific planned, but needed to be home because the helper had cooked dinner. We couldn't dump dinner at home to go out; the girlfriend is someone I love spending time with; so hanging out at home it was.

Good girl swam. WOOT. By the time she washed up, dinner was ready. Even I didn't know what the maid had cooked till I stepped into the kitchen. The helper is really a whizz in the kitchen. Between telling her to add extra dishes just 2 hours earlier, she managed to do a Chinese stir-fry of ikan sala, sambal beef, eggs, tofu-ey thingy, vegetable thingies, and double-boiled old cucumber soup with dunno-what conpoy, oysters and whatever dried stuff that went quite well together in a pot. The girlfriend was such a sweetie. She didn't mind the dishes. She was like, "I'll eat whatever's on the table!"

I looked at the serviettes used tonight, and grinned. The man must have bought these to educate me about herbs, and how they actually look like. DOH. I think we grow some of these herbs in pots out on the balcony. But errrmmm...I forgot exactly what they are. No wonder the man never asks me to pluck the leaves, preferring to do it himself.
