Happy 47th Birthday, Singapore!

Wearing a childhood memory- the dragon-shaped sand-based playground of the 80s.

Our shared memories of the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and (OMG Noughties!) 00s will all be different. Each generation will forge its own cluster events of 'way back when' when reminiscing. Never forget, Singapore arose out of the blood, sweat and tears of immigrants. And we'll continue to progress as a community with new immigrants, and a growing sense of also being global citizens.

May this country stay true to our National Pledge (written by S. Rajaratnam, edited by Lee Kuan Yew and approved by the Cabinet in 1966).
We, the citizens of Singapore, pledge ourselves as one united people, regardless of race, language or religion, to build a democratic society, based on justice and equality so as to achieve happiness, prosperity and progress for our nation.
