Out With The Girls

After watching all those youtube videos, the girlfriends bought (cruising) skateboards too. These boards are so much more sleek than the chunky ones we were used to. We were monster skaters as kids. But kinda lost touch with a board since...I dunno...we became officially adults? We're reasonably fit, and decided that we should be able to get the hang of it again pretty fast.We spent the morning whizzing around on rather empty stretches of streets in the CBD. Perfect kind of flat ground for not-totally-newbie skaters. Attempted no tricks, not even hopping down non-steep staircases. These aren't trick-boards. None of us wanted to end up with a ton of bruises and scrapes.

Fun morning. Although it wasn't as much of a workout as inline skating. Haven't done that in a long while either. Was a bit wary of that when my big toe got injured and taken years to heal. Then we popped over to her new apartment for a shower and cold drinks. She's got a fabulous view. Spent a good hour staring out at the blue and enjoying the cool sea breeze in the shade under the blazing sun.

There was this thing about lunch. The host wasn't going to cook. Neither were the rest. We could...I guess. But the fridge was EMPTY. Likewise the larder, except for cereals, cheese, juices, tofu and whatnots. No greens. No noodles or pasta. Couldn't even put together a salad. Hahaha. Kind of wanting hot food. Our nearest fully stocked supermarket was a 10-minute drive away. However, there were restaurants an 8-minute walk away, and one with equally stunning views of the city. The only thing- we were in sports wear. Only E was in a flouncy pretty sundress. Didn't know if they'd take us. G shrugged. "Who cares. We'll do a to-go if they don't!" Fine. But the restaurant didn't blink at our clothes. Hurrah. We sat down, ate and made a lot of noise.
