Fishball Noodle Soup!
Taiwan is surrounded by rich marine life in the seas. It can't be that difficult to find seafood in Taipei. And I was right! Out gallivanting in the day, we hit the coastal towns and villages, and in the day, our meals are quite yummy. Every other little shop in the tiny towns and villages sell goooood fishball noodle soup! Or noodles made out of fish paste rather than flour. AWESOME.
The winsome part, most of these shops also provide meat dishes, like soya minced pork rice (滷肉飯), or bee hoon with bits of pork for people who aren't in love with fish. H, who doesn't love fish at all, was quite happy that she didn't have to gobble balls at these meals. She opted for rice. I swear these lunches of fishballs, noodles and bee hoon are my happiest meals in Taiwan. There's even cut red chilli in soya sauce to go along with it. Not that much of a kick, still missing my sambal belachan thingies, but it's better than nothing.
Sat across from a table of Taiwanese and shamelessly eavesdropped on their conversation. Not difficult because they were talking uhhh...really loudly. They were complaining about their President and how they thought his administration and policies regarding the salary of university graduates had crippled the country, among other grouses. Not as if I'm clued into Taiwanese politics. What I know is simply from flipping through news sites.
Oh, and I ate up all the noodles. Must fill tummy fully at lunch. Just in case we get back to town late, end up at yet another night market, and there'll nothing for me to eat. :P Can't be eating the stash of muesli bars and cookies for all dinners!
