Tiny Edibles

On the days I don't whoosh out to the exciting cafes for breakfast or brunch, I sort out food at home, eating about the same things I do in Singapore. Bits of granola and muesli here and there, but largely bread and cheese, and especially raw stuff, since the level of freshness is unbeatable.

What about coffee? I pull my own piccolo latte lor, with no latte art. Can't do any sort of swirls. The cup is functional, not pretty. The Aunts are much more professional in serving up a decent flat white.

Of course I went nuts over the eggs here. I could buy them at the markets, or go out and persuade the hens to give up one. Did both. The range at the supermarket is wide and so decent. On the other hand, the hens, don't like me very much. They prefer the housekeeper who is definitely gentler. Hmmmmph. They'll willingly give up their eggs to her, but not me. There I thought collecting eggs would be no sweat. Anyway, slurping up one fresh raw egg a day has been awesome. Luckily no tummy aches. Whewwww!

Milk. Fresh milk delivered daily is awesomest. The luxury! These bottles won't keep for very long. Drink'em fast. Still. Don't think the Aunts are hot about getting a couple of cows as pets. Heh. Fresh milk, cold. A long draught in the morning or in the night. Lovely sort of snack. Or a bar of cruncy dark chocolate. Perfect. Chocolates are great for topping up needed calories or for a bit of a sugar boost without the starch and all. Throw in blanched broccoli, with or without sea salt (depending on the mood), and I'm a happy girl. If I'm that hungry, there'll always be hummus, dhaal and carrot sticks.
