The Urban Trails

S pronounced, "Let's get out and walk." The rest were up for it. In fact, they had considered heading to Pulau Ubin, except that they woke up too late to spend a day there. Hahahaha. The man and I took a look at our shoes and immediately agreed. Always beautiful to take walk through an urban trail for some sort of greenery. We've done MacRitchie trails last weekend, and would like to take our visitors to another portion of the island so that they don't just leave with the idea that the environment only welcomes concrete jungles.

Escaped most of the noon-day blaze sprawled on the couch at the friends' home. All glued to our respective electronic devices, piped up random comments and links whenever we felt like. When the sun visibly shifted across to the other side of the horizon, we moved our asses out of the door. Took a leisurely 2-hour stroll through the familiar Henderson Waves and Southern Ridges just before sunset. The sun was bright, but by 4.15pm, had lost most of its brutal heat. Nothing that a hat and sunglasses couldn't manage. Good walk. Glad we went before more people came in at sunset.

Tried to spot monkeys. None. Didn't even hear them. Plenty of cicadas. Either it was too hot for the monkeys to be gallivanting out in the open, or there were too many humans for their liking. I saw more notices warning against feeding or engaging monkeys than an actual primate. Chehhh.

hahaha ... actually glad there are no monkeys as they are already a nuisance especially in upper pierce & bukit timah hill area.

hope you are recovering well from your allergic reactions.

Those monkeys won't be too cute at all! Yes, thanks, getting better and rashes are subsiding.

I've never seen monkeys there. I have seen monkeys several times at MacRitchie but they've never been a problem. I've gone jogging there and come right up close to a family - though I did slow down, walk by them and made sure not to make any eye contact or show my teeth. They were close enough for me to have reached out to touch them.

MacRitchie's probably more dense for monkeys. Our walking companions said they've monkeys at Henderson Waves, rummaging through a dustbin at the carpark. Ugh.
