Milokopi at Alati

I wasn't impressed with Alati when it first opened, and avoided re-visiting for a loooong time. Decided to give it another chance at dinner the other night. It was a much better experience this time round. Had a little pita bread with dips of fava and melizanosalata (smoked eggplant, roasted peppers and walnuts). The table had a regular salad and grilled octopus as well. Beer and and easy reds accompanied the meal nicely.

The man raved about the wonderful (and overpriced) milokopi or shi drum fish he had in London. The fish has just begun its season. Obviously I didn't get to eat that awesome and fresher version. Alati offered it tonight on the menu, and we bravely ordered it grilled. The kitchen grilled the 700-gram milokopi beautifully. It was still delicious! We were pleased the fish turned out so well.

Since it was a table of four, we could go easy on the carbs and have two fish! Hahaha. We were all feeling like fish that night. Loads of protein and fish oil! We also had the red porgy, which is a common sea bream, salt-baked. It was 800 grams. I didn't take that much of the sea bream. While decent, our vote went to the shi drum fish, which was a much tastier meat when simply grilled.

The delicious milokopi at Alati.
