V suggested having lobster for dinner. I eyed her suspiciously. “Erm, you’re not thinking of Burger & Lobster at Jewel right?!” I haven't visited Jewel and I'm really not interested in going there to queue for food. UGH.
Luckily, no, not Jewel. She wanted our old favorite Pince & Pints at its Duxton location. Wheewwwww. We have got zero interest in checking out Burger & Lobster in Singapore, not when we’re already done with the fad when it opened to huge fanfare in London...like seven years ago.
Besides their whole lobsters at S$58++ a piece, Pince & Pints have expanded their menu to include more items, like... fish fingers, nonya prawns and mud crabs (steamed, grilled, or with chilli or black pepper), and also an S$18 dish of crab meat fried rice which sounded really good. I suppose they do need to properly compete with Burger & Lobster in both Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. :P
We opted for the whole lobster done Cantonese-style with glass vermicelli. We could also choose sides of either fries or fried mantou. I'm not hot about glass vermicelli, but still ate a few bites. Polished off all three cute mantou. Almost asked for another order. Oof! The thing about their Asian-style options for lobsters that come with noodles- they tend to over-salt it. Or use too much soy sauce till you taste all soy. Eeeps. Although I think they could have used a better quality soy sauce, I'm okaaay with it though. Heh. I like salt! But if you don't, then don't pick this option.
Dinner was superbly satisfying. I was less jittery this week after having settled into a routine of caring for a new dog. Sooo happy to tank up on tasty lobster and enjoy comforting girlfriend-time over an easy bottle of white.
