Headed out to brunch with Choya at Open Farm Community. We like this venue because there's a sheltered outdoor area and food is good. We've never visited this restaurant in the day, and there hasn't been a reason to come on weekends for brunch either; it has always been dinners on week days. Oof. After two visits at 11am for brunch, we foresee that we'll be plonked here rather often on the weekends now.
Brunch menu was quite extensive. Call it hipster, but I love these foods. They're perfect for my stomach, and the restaurant does a solid version; it didn't stinge on the ingredients. My cashew and mango granola was decent; it was a tad sweet because of the coconut yoghurt, goji berries, roselle jam and wild honey. The 'Kin Yan Eggy-in-a-basket' of sautéed oyster mushrooms, arugula and herbs were delicious. (Mushrooms are from Kin Yan Farm) He loves salads when they're done well. The table shared everything else. We also had brioche crab rolls, watermelon and wild honey salad, waffle bak kwa and egg stack, and plancha chicken flatbread. A bottle of prosecco went really well with the food.
Handed Choya over to the BFF. Yay! I could ignore the dog for the next hour! There was a little garden for the dog to take a short stroll around and sniff the grass, so to speak, and there were bigger fields beyond for her to pee and poo. The dog did good for brunch, didn't bark at the servers or humans. She did bark at a few dogs in greeting, and allowed herself to be petted by a little girl (under strict and close supervision by yours truly, of course).
