For our Sunday brunch, Publico Ristorante kindly gave us the furthest table outdoors. It made for very a comfortable corner for us and Choya. We wouldn't disturb other diners, and we had some quiet for the excitable little girl. The BFF joined us. This was the first time a 'stranger' sat down with us for a meal, so I wanted to see how Choya behaved. Training a dog is continuous.
Choya more or less ignored the BFF because we were in a public place. She knew that the BFF was part of the table and such, but she did her own thing. Too many distractions and new scents to take in. When she was startled by a passing waiter and barked and growled, the BFF took her away for a quick stroll on the leash to calm her down—she didn't resist. Hahahaha. She had this really quizzical look on her face when she was walked away from the man and I. When she returned, she was calm, and was allowed to trot along with her new acquaintance—a 1-year-old female Shiba Inu who was really sweet.
We really prefer to eat at restaurants that offer decent food and accept dogs. None of those crazy dog cafes for us please. I'm a bit scarred from the last visit, especially when not all dog owners understand etiquette or leash their dogs. Pizza and pasta were our choices to fill our stomachs. A carbonara penne (that was quite good), a vongole spaghetti and a burrata pizza.
It was a hot afternoon, but the shade, natural breeze and fans made the two hours all right. Anyway when we have a dog with us, we're extremely pleased with hot weather. We even had the mood for a bit of light wine. The AIX Rosé was an easy bottle to go with our heavy mains.
