Satti Sorru at Grace’s Pot

Made a trek to Grace’s Pot for lunch. (The parking is a tad painful. We parked across the road the HDB carpark at Block 707 at Yishun Avenue 5.) We heard that the food is good, and their satti sorru is close to Malaysian standards. Lunch was the perfect opportunity to go heavy since we would have plenty of time and activities to digest the carbs and burn’em calories.

The vegetables were good. I loved the bittergourd masala and the stir-fried banana stems. The raita, dhal and sambar were super decent. The greedy table also ordered mutton biryani. We thought it average. If we’re going for rice here, then we should take all carbs in the form of plain biryani rice, or go for broke and order satti sorru

We ordered the prawn and the ikan bilis. The prawn curry was subtle and naturally sweet from the meat; it was full of spices but not chilli-hot. The ikan bilis was more fiery because of the sambal used. Gorgeous. Both claypots were nicely moist but not soaked in gravy. I was so pleased that both were legit delicious. Finally found good satti sorru in Singapore!

The only thing is, this restaurant is really far for us to get to for a random lunch. Well, it is only a 25-minute drive, and a 10-minute stroll from carpark to restaurant. As much as we would make an effort to taste good satti sorru, we would have to make a few plans to get here. We also really rather not turn up on weekends if we can help it. The restaurant takes reservations, so that makes it smoother if we want to have a meal on a specific date.

No idea what it is but those satti sorru look so delicious! Maybe a great idea to have after taking a long walk at MacRitchie or Seletar 😬 Yum!

it's pretty much fried rice in a claypot! they either use sambal to stir-fry, or curry gravy to do so.
