Another Great Lunch at Miraku

Took the man to Miraku for lunch to celebrate his birthday way in advance. The man had never eaten at the restaurant and I thought he might like it. Chef Hei has somehow upped his game through the year, and I really like the flavors he's producing and presenting.

The man's birthday isn't happening till end of March, but hey, we can just celebrate for the whole month! With the current squeeze of seating capacity at restaurants and to roster our stomach space, I decided to spread out the man's birthday meals. Looming mortality makes every day a celebration. :P

We had no afternoon calls and could afford to have a small bottle of sake along with the meal. It was rare that the man could take time out for lunch. Sure, he's working from home still, but lunch time is still somewhat precious because that's used for gym workouts if he isn't stuck on calls. And I generally arrange lunches with girlfriends and run errands when I get that free window. The dog doesn't care when we go out in the day. She hasn't got separation anxiety about it yet. But if we leave her alone at night, she FOMO.

The man also enjoyed Chef Hei's rendition of sushi. He happily ate all 11 pieces, and took my ebi sushi when the Chef forgot my no-prawn request. I skipped all tuna, hurhurhur. Chef Hei had shiny fish that day, so he gave me plenty of those. Delicious! We would see if we could make it for dinner one evening, and compare if dinner would have more interesting options in the omakase presentation.
