Mera Dabba at the Tiffin Room

Had a lovely taste of Tiffin Room's festive menu for Holi. So I had to return with J at lunch to check out some of its usual a la carte dishes. The problem with Indian food- we have to order loads to satisfy cravings, and it's hard to eat that much in quantity. Luckily for us, there was a three-course lunch menu, inclusive of dessert. It was termed that the mera dabba — the lunch tiffin

The choices for the three-course lunch were wide enough, and we opted for one regular and one vegetarian dabba. A tangy murgh makhani (boneless leg in tomato and cashew nut gravy) for J and a vegetarian baigan nu bharta (roasted aubergine with cumin, garlic and onions) for me. Mmmmm. Each dabba set came with dal makhani, kesari jeera pulao and naan (garlic, butter and plain). That was a good enough meal for us! Our stomachs won't be able to stomach that much food at lunch.

Dessert was a mango kulfi, and a small chocolate gulab jamun. Hahahah. I took the mango kulfi since the cold mouthfuls were welcome. J couldn't even deal with more than three spoonfuls of the mango ice-cream. And of course the gulab jamun was still way to sweet for us. Next time, we'll just skip the dessert.

We adjourned to Gather a few doors down for a cup of much needed coffee, and a taste of their newest tart of ricotta cheese and raisins. We didn't stay long because the skies looked threatening. When we had afternoon calls to get home to, we couldn't afford to stay out. When we hopped into our respective cabs. the skies opened and poured. Whewwww!
