Thosai, Bisi Bele Bhath & Thakkali Sadam

On a particularly long day of fielding work calls from 7am onwards, and churning out paperwork for both the man and I, an early lunch was in order. The man needed a breather. At 11am, he went to MTR to get a takeaway lunch for us.

MTR instant food and spice packs are available on the shelves at Cold Storage Great World City. That’s pretty cool. I dunno how good the instant dhal is. I rarely buy the instant food. I get the spices in powder or paste. For many reasons, we haven't bothered dining in at MTR at all. It's much easier to get a takeout, and it's preferable to go by 11am so that the wait isn't long. By 11.35am, you'd be waiting about 20 minutes for your to-go order.

The man came back with a fancy bag. I was like, 'what happened to the usual plastic bags'? In his haste, he had forgotten to take along a food bag, so I assumed the food would return in the usual plastic bags. But it came back in this cloth holder. That's nice. I can wash and use it again, but the threads on the straps aren't strong, and this wouldn't carry a lot of weight.

Masala thosai for the man, since he can't live without thosai. There was also a portion of bisi-bele bhath (dal and rice) so that he could have a have spoonfuls now and the rest was kept for the next day's lunch. I can't do bisi-bele bhath because it's just too mushy for my liking. The rice is literally sitting in dhal and the man loves it. Okaaaaay. It's tomato rice (thakkali sadam) and raita for me. I can never finish the whole portion, so half of that would become my lunch tomorrow. Adding a boiled egg to the tomato rice makes it a great meal. Heh.
