Alphonso Mangoes 🥭

It's the Alphonso mango season, but this year we were late in ordering, and also India is facing a tsunami of pandemic numbers, so it's hard to organize logistics when everyone is focused on not taking ill. It's a sad situation. Our mangoes arrived in boxes still stuck with the Singapore Airlines passenger flight stickers. Ahhhhh. Restricted air travel, but our supplies are still coming in on these necessary flights. That's economics. Also, I miss the days of easy traveling and buying groceries home.

The BFF ordered boxes and boxes of mangoes. I was in charge of collection, and picked it up from Desi Mart in Compassvale Bow at street level of The Quartz. It was convenient! I thought I would need a trolley or something. But honestly, five boxes of mangoes (12 in a box) ain't heavy because these were the small ones. They ran out of the jumbo-sized fruits. I'm not a fan of mango because it's too sweet and sticky. But the man and his parents love mangoes, so we bought a box.

The BFF came over to collect her mangoes, and stayed for dinner too. Might as well, before another set of rules come in to dictate no visiting. Of course it had to be easy Indian food for the evening. Ordered takeout from Madura's on Syed Alwi Road. We prefer to pick it up ourselves, unless we're so lazy, then we'll await deliveries at home. Often, the food becomes S$3 to S$5 more for each item when we order via the apps.

Didn't over-order, and didn't go too adventurous. Too much carbs would knock us out anyway. Ordered super friendly items. Madura's has a huge menu of both north and south Indian dishes. Had lovely spices in the form of chicken mandi, mutton dum biryani, butter chicken to go with the naan (and since the BFF had a craving for this), and hara bhara kebab (vegetable cutlets of spinach, green peas and potatoes) for ME. I really prefer mandi over biryani. Teehehehe.
