A Reunion Seafood Lunch

OMG IT HAS BEEN AGES SINCE I SAW P! I was trying to sort out the smol girl's care and wondering how to make a flight up to Bangkok, and then P said he was flying into Singapore. I'm sooooo glad travel restrictions cleared and he made it in to SIFA shows. We caught up over a loooong lunch.

P and his partner wanted seafood. All right. We went to the conveniently located New Ubin Seafood at CHIJMES. I hadn't been there for ages! The man was happy to have a seafood meal like this again. We can't eat at restaurants like this unless we have a table of four stomachs!

We might have been too trigger-happy and ordered too much for four people. There were fish roe with sambal chinchalok and petai, sliced bittergourd stir-fried with salted egg yolk, and a soup of bakwan kepiting. The man decided to try the spicy chicken masala (of which the rest could be tapau-ed for lunch the next day). Had to have the Boss Beehoon — it's simply wok-fried with eggs, fish cake and chye sim. Totally hit a spot with everyone. The oyster omelette was weird to us all. The oysters were plump and tasty, but the omelette was wayyyy too crispy. I was like, where's the fluffy egg?!

Skipped the messy and tough-to-peel crabs and went for the jumbo-sized king tiger prawns. Each 150-gram prawn was nicely sliced into half and presented grilled with salt and pepper and garlic. Those were delicious! They came last when we were quite stuffed. Thought we couldn't finish four prawns. But we did. They even ate the heads. HAHAHAH.
