Donabe Options at Torasho

Found a decent enough restaurant in Torasho Ramen & Charcoal Bar. Located at the corner of Tras Street leading on to Tanjong Pagar Road, it's got a spacious enough outdoor seating area that's comfortable in the nights. It's very crowded, so make reservations before you stop by.

They've got decent sharing plates and tacos, and grilled sticks. There're fun items like Ikura Nachos with papadum, tobiko, taramasalata and herbs, and Unagi with papadum, som tam and green mango. There's one item that I dithered over because why would I want to pay $16 for an appetizer of Watermelon Radish? But you know what? It was really delicious pimped up with nashi, ice plant and ginger-miso dressing. Hahaha.

After a few visits, I still haven't ordered any of its ramen. I'm not the biggest fan of ramen, or its liberal use of truffle ragout thingies (likely using truffle oil which I passionately dislike). I can deal with tsukemen, but that's often heavy. There's a Bak Chor Mee using Impossible Pork. I might opt for that one day.

I keep ordering its donabe because it's pretty tasty. It isn't as good as what I would like, but it would do in a pinch when I don't have the luxury of time. I like the one with Miyazaki A5 Wagyu, Toro and Madai Snapper. The wagyu was acceptable because it used loin and chuck and were all mashed with the toro within the pot. The fish was left as sashimi atop the rice.
